2. After watching the YouTube video that

demonstrates radial symmetry, you are going

to create a “found objects” radial design 3D. 

*Remember with radial symmetry, objects will

radiate around a central point. Start with a +

that divides it into 4 sections and then work

around it. Whatever is in one of the sections,

is in all 4.

You are to arrange found objects from your

home and create a radial symmetrical design.

Arrange them on the floor or table and then

take a picture of your design with your

chromebook and then please share it with

me on Google Classroom.

Notice my design radiates from one central

point, the center where the spoons meet.

Think of the spoons as the lines of symmetry,

dividing it into the 4 sections. If you cut the

picture in half and flip it over (the line of

symmetry), it is the same on all 4 sides. 

Be creative! You can use shoes, toys,

silverware, legos, fruit, candy, rocks,

coins, crayons….The list can go on and on.

Warm Colors/ Cool Colors

Warm colors — such as red, yellow, and orange;

evoke warmth because they remind us of things like

the sun or fire. 

Cool colors — such as blue, green, and purple (violet);

evoke a cool feeling because they remind us of things like

water or grass.

Option 1  Choose a set of colors, either warm colors or

cool colors. 

You are going to color a mandala with either warm colors

or cool colors.

A mandala, which is Sanskrit for “circle”, is a geometric

design that holds a great deal of symbolism in Hindu and

Buddhist cultures. ... In their most basic form, mandalas

are circles contained within a square and arranged into

sections that are all organized around a single, central point.

On your Chromebook, color the design entirely with either

warm colors or cool color. 

Download the colored picture and then send it to me on

Google Classroom. 

OR

Option 2 - Become aware of cool colors vs warm colors.

Create a drawing or design and color the picture in all

warm colors or all cool colors. Use whatever you may

have at home, crayons, markers, colored pencils, paint etc.

Notebook Paper Drawing

I challenge you to create a drawing on

lined/notebook paper. Find a way to incorporate

the paper lines into your drawing. Be creative!

I am including a few google examples to help

inspire you. Notice the difference in skill levels.

Your drawing can be a line drawing, it can be a

drawing that is shaded or it can be a colored

drawing. Just use whatever you have at home
and have fun with it!

Happy first full day of spring!

Feeling inspired by the change of

season and the hope for the

new beginnings of spring, I thought it

would be fun to draw some flowers today.

Just like many of you, I do not have many

art supplies at home, crazy - right!? I am

using a sheet of computer paper and an

old pencil that I found in the junk drawer.

You can draw on anything... scrap paper,

brown paper bag, notebook paper etc.

Also, draw with whatever you can find...

a pencil, pen, marker, colored pencil etc.

I found a few step by step, how to draw

flower examples on Pinterest. Hopefully

they will help you and give you some

inspiration for your drawing.

I challenge you to create a first day of

spring sketch! I spent about 20-30 minutes

on my sketch. Take as much time as you like.

Be creative! Look up some pictures for

inspiration, or completely make it up. 

I am sharing my sketch with you, can’t

wait to see your sketches. Send me pictures!!!!!

Color Wheel Scavenger Hunt

The color wheel starts with three primary colors,

all colors are created from the primary colors…

Red, Yellow and Blue

Mixing equal amounts of two primary colors

together, creates the secondary colors…

Red + Yellow = Orange

Yellow + Blue = Green

Blue + Red = Violet

Mixing a primary color with the secondary color

next to it, creates the intermediate/tertiary colors…

Yellow-Orange, Red-Orange, Red-Violet, Blue-Violet,

Blue-Green and Yellow-Green

Colors that are across from one another on the

color wheel are called complementary colors.

Complementary colors, when combined or mixed,

cancel each other out (lose hue) by producing a

gray-scale color. When placed next to each other,

they create the strongest contrast for those two

colors. Complementary color pairs... 

Orange and Blue

Yellow and Violet

Red and Green

Can you think of some logos that were created

with complementary colors?

Now that we have learned a little bit more about

color, I challenge you to create a color wheel with

found objects from your home. Try to include

Primary Colors, Secondary Colors and Tertiary Colors. 

This is my color wheel. I really had to hunt,

especially for the violets.  

The bold line shows the primary colors and the

thin line shows the secondary colors.

Van Gogh and Self-Portraits...

Let's take a tour of Vincent Van Gogh's Museum. 
As you all know, Van Gogh is my favorite artist! Until today, I had never 
taken a tour of his museum, which is located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. 
Amazing!!!!!! This permanent collection houses over 200 paintings and 
500 drawings. Fun fact, did you know that Van Gogh was only an artist 
for 10 short years and he created over 2000 pieces of artwork - 860 of 
them were oil paintings.

You can take it out and hide it during a walk! 

Write G’rocks on the bottom and others will

take a picture of it, post it and re-hide the rock.

How to Draw and Paint a Shamrock Picture...

Draw about five cross shapes lightly with a pencil.

Draw hearts lightly around the 3 short ends.

Use a dark green paint to trace and fill in.

 

Use a lighter green to fill in the back. Leave some space.

Trace and add lines with a gold paint marker.
